2021 putnam county fair

All hands were on deck at this year's Putnam County Fair. The PCMG team worked tirelessly to bring to life a pet-friendly snufflegarden with help from the Putnam County Animal Shelter.  MG volunteers also hosted lectures on a mutltitude of topics throughout the week.

Sunny days provide Putnam County Master Gardeners with the perfect opportunity to spruce up the demonstration beds around the UT Extension office.  If you have a chance, drive by and see all their hard work!

What's been happening in 2021

The past year has presented a unique set of challenges, but the PCMGs have continued their mission of outreach and education.  The photos below show how volunteers mentor, create, and inspire here in the Upper Cumberland.

Petal and Rake Garden Tour

On October 14, 2020 the Putnam County Master Gardeners were invited to tour the grounds of Serina Williams' flower farm, Petal and Rake, on Brotherton Mountain. Serina uses organic techniques to grow cut flowers for local florists and event planners.

Pauline Johnson memorial Garden Granville, TN

Putnam County Master Gardeners travelled to Granville, TN to decorate the Pauline Johnson Memorial Garden as part of Historic Granville's month-long scarecrow festival. Their display, along with many others, will be available to view through the month of October 2020.

Each year in August, the Fair comes to Putnam County and the Master Gardeners shine with beautifully appointed displays of their creative and gardening prowess. Educational materials are handed out by volunteers and a good time is had by all as you can see in the collection of photographs from Fairs of the past.

hoop, there it is

As part of the preparation for the PCMG annual plant sale, the hoop house must be rebuilt.  Through the diligent work of our volunteers, the process is quick and efficient...not to mention, fun!
